Daphine LED di Tommaso Cimini per Lumina

Lumina racconta una storia che risale agli anni '70, gli anni del boom del Design

Lumina tells a story starting in the 70's, when the Italian Design and Made in Italy were booming. This story is still still alive today and we are proud to make our lamps since the beginning in our factory with the same passion and attention for details. In 1975, in our mechanical laboratory, Tommaso Cimini's idea took form: a transformer, two articulated arms, a pivoting head and a little halogen 50W bulb made a simple light,as its name: Daphine.

In 1975 Tommaso Cimini,very skilled technician, was designing and making electromechanical transfers for the most important Northern Italy lighting companies. Thanks to his creativity and his mechanical background, Mr Cimini started to imagine a task light with adjustable arms and easy to make by himself. Taking advantage of his handicraft skills and technical creatvity, he made by himself all the necessary mould for producing the newborn Daphine. It was 1977 when Tommaso started to deliver the first Dahine lamps to a selected range of Showrooms in Milan.

Daphine LED has always been the most important challenge: the objective was to make the same lamp, with the same performances. The LED efficiency and power were our problem and we knew it was just a matter of time.

Recently the new LED are totally reliable and have a very high efficiency and made it possible to achieve this new project. Today we are proud to present Daphine LED: it is exactly the same as the Classic Daphine in the shape and movemt, but with better performances: a more powerful lightpower with much lower enery consumption" The Technological Evolution cannot disregard the Environment. We are conscious of using LED as an environment benefit. LED is a low energy, high quality lighting source, safe and long lasting. Lumina offers a high value range, handmade and hancrafted respecting the best Made in Italy tradition together with a high technology content which is the result of a contnuous research on materials ans processes.

To achieve Daphine LED, we have increased our resources in many fields as electronics, optics and colour intensityWe .

We are aware we entered a new digital light age and we are looking for new solutions for a changing world. Since the begining, our objective was to get better lighting performances then before with lower enery consumption. The most critical part was to achieve a reliable heat sink accordinging to the original head shape.

The solution was found projecting a LED driver which we developed with the collaboration of a highly specialized Company based in our greater Milano area.

Another challenge was to keep the head full rotation, typical of Daphine, and we succeeded.

Through a high efficiency convecting heat sink system together with a powerful LED and a miniaturized joint to keep the head full rotation we managed to have a same simple and articulated successful Daphine light, as in the past.

We are using a High-Brightness LED linked to a heat sink that guarantees:

- the highest lighting performance

- enery savings

- very low head temperature

- long lasting lifetime

- safe use
