Calcestudio

Biography:

I’m Silvia Soldati, I’m an architect and I’ve built things since I was a little girl. I’ve been disassembling things, conducting weird experiments e designing strange devices all my life. Calcestudio is a lab in the countryside , (because I think better out in nature) where I design, model and make by hand every piece. Lamps and table come from my creativity and become furniture by a process that merge craftsmanship and technologic innovation. I work to enhance the raw material in order to make object to see, to touch and to live.

Calcestudio’s pillars are:

• craftmanship: I make very few items, completely crafted by my hand in every phase of the manufacturing process.

• Innovation: 3d printing is an import phase of design and production.

• Sustainability: ecologic and natural materials are the first step of the production

• Experimentation: I always test new techniques, new materials, new geometry.

Concept:

High craftsmanship, rigorous geometries and materiality, these are the characteristics of the lamps and the table presented by Calcestudio, a laboratory founded by the architect Silvia Soldati, who designs and manufactures each piece by hand in every stage of production.

AURUM

is the rule of the golden section that becomes light, a mathematical formula that becomes matter. Entirely handmade, starting from a 3d printed form, Aurum is a table lamp that bases its uniqueness on the mathematical formula of beauty and on the texture of the cement that is fluid to the eye and to the touch.

SILLUCI

Entirely handmade, starting from a 3d printed form, Silluci is a lamp based on a rigorous geometry and a strong material component, the cement becomes the protagonist with its natural color and its natural fluidity to the eye and to the touch.
