Francesca Paolin Studio

Biography:

Francesca grew up amidst the excessive fashions of the 80s and the reactive minimalism of the 90s. Francesca has been feeding her passion for fashion observing her mother hand making garments, knitting and making extremely feminine embroideries as learnt from aristocratic Venetian ladies. Seeing her father wearing farm clothing, or his funny "elegant" outfits mixing the modern with the old. This sense of style has been further developed by Francesca's travels and work experience abroad, where she observed people wearing their own traditional clothing mixed in with other cultures resulting in unique and eclectic looks. Thanks to her background and talent, the Domus Academy offered Francesca a bursary for a Masters in Fashion Design. Her experience spans both major, internationally recognized fashion companies, as well as niche high end British luxury Designers. She has already been awarded a number of prestigious accolades including "Levi's® Womenswear Award" prize at Mittelmoda 2011 .

Concept:

Paolin is an emerging body decoration brand which reflects Francesca's Paolin creativity. Francesca, the Italian designer behind the label, following a Masters in Fashion Design at Domus Academy and work experiences abroad, from the UK to Ecuador, decided to direct her creativity towards this project which melts 3D technology with exotic styles and Brit Pop culture. The 3D printing technique used - fuse very thin layers of powdered nylon, that afterwords are hand painted with an exclusive process - the artisanal work like the Venetian handmade embroidery, became serial. The pattern turn into a fractal design and create intricate shapes almost impossible to create with the traditional techniques. Traditions and cultures move forward the concept of hand-craft, defining an unique production techniques. Repeated modules combined in different colours combinations, are the foundation for necklace, statement earrings, enchanting bangles, extremely light weight and colourful rings. Francesca’s style is pop, quirky, the design is structured and reminds tropical vibes. The jewellery call to the mind exotic flowers, feathers, embroideries, traditional Maya jewellery with turquoise hints and metallic glares.
