Giovanna Andreis / Happening Lab
Biography
I was born on Lake Garda on June the 16th 1978. After the classical studies at the high school I moved to Venice to study architecture.
I really love design, I like the possibility of translating the study, reading, observing and experiences in concrete objects.
I understood almost from the beginning that I loved the small scale and lightness and decided to leave the largest largest volumes and dedicate myself to small big objects.
I get inspiration from everything, a book, a film, curious news on newspapers or magazines, a stroll, a talk.
In one occasion I drew for mass-production but I prefer to concentrate on unique pieces which tell each time a different story, on product personalization which talks directly to the person who buys it.
Everything is hand-made by myself and sometimes with the cooperation of some artisans.
During the last years I participated in some exhibitions of handmade design: Open Design Italia, Source Firenze and Memexposed in Ferrara. Last year I got a publication on the magazine Nylon Indonesia.
The collection “probabilità” (Probability) on show in Milan is a work I’ve started a few years ago
They are compositions of small hand-painted cloth fishes and real fishing material.
"Initially the probability of an event to occur was defined as number of cases favorable for the event, over the number of total outcomes possible in an equiprobable sample space"
Balancing on a thin and almost invisible wire between chance and probability.
