Biography
“LaBottega”, a synthesis of Laboratory and Bottega, clearly refers to the study and research of a Renaissance workshop, a meeting place of design, research, workmanship and training. As a “company-laboratory”, we want to combine the precision of form and functionality, the discovery of ancient materials and the search for new ones, to put into practice expert gestures and test new solutions...to give life to what motivates us, pleasures us and it makes us grow as human beings.
Philosophy that animates us: the product is a “continuum” between form, function and sensory experience. The path of product creation is simple; we begin with the search for shapes and materials.
The creation must have a soul to arouse excitement, like an attractive designer object, even when it doesn’t illuminate, and when it is used it must express itself and it must be engaging through emotional and functional interaction.
When it is in function, the form must accentuate itself or transform and decorate the surrounding environment with light. There should never be a moment when the light gives off a glare and takes attention away from the forms. The difficulty lies in combining the designer's intentions without losing functionality. Interaction with objects is sensory. That’s why when we’re inspired by the primitive form, we research materials (texture, material sensation, a combination of different materials, finishes, colors), evaluate the functionality and analyze the “emotional” processes during its use.
In order to be able to transmit “emotions” via an object, for us, the crucial step is its realization. We’re not just any standard factory of industrial objects, but a company-laboratory. We evaluate the individual components of an object in detail, from the screws to the LED module to the paint, we produce samples and pre-production in our workshop and fully test them out in our electronic laboratory, and we develop the processes of realization and packaging.
At the end of the journey, what should remain is an improvement in our life experiences.
This manifesto requires great consistency and integrity in the practical application.
That’s why our portfolio is not a mere list of products, but a collection of objects designed with passion and realized with care and honesty.
Product: bucket
This Urban Design lamp has an entertaining story behind it, but what matters is the result: an elegant pendant lamp.
The Urban Design style combines the purity of the contours to that of materials. The colorful textile cable and the brass details truly bring out the elegance.
The light source unit has a LED module connected to a patented innovative and simple magnetic coupling system. This allows for easy replacement of the LED module, even if you simply want to change the color temperature.
The suspended version is perfect for taking its comfortable light and decorating and bathing surroundings and areas such as the dining room, restaurants, reading areas, counters, as well as workstations.
Product: eclipse 24k
Eclipse is truly a designer lamp in 24k gold. A luxury product on the confines of design and artistic installation, even though, technically, it’s a wall lamp.
The light generates through a precious gold leaf finish in 24k gold. To create the diffuser we recuperated an ancient technique for the laying of the gold leaf: the so-called “gouache” gold plating.
Today, this technique is used almost exclusively for restorations of great value; it’s a complex procedure and requires much experience in order to obtain maximum results. The process requires many days of workmanship, where the pauses between one stage and the other are essential in order to achieve a perfect piece.
The gestures, the names of the materials and tools used are nothing short of seductive: the preparation of the wood with natural materials, shellac, 24k gold leaf, unique plaster of Bologna, Lapin glue, Armenian bole, agate stone, burnishing, etc.
The end result is simply extraordinary: a reflective surface, warm, unique, precious.
The LED light source illuminates the golden surface, the indirect light heats up and illuminates the surrounding with a special golden hue, while the direct light on the wall remains a more neutral shade. The effect is sophisticated and must simply be experienced.
A light and shadow that play on the wall, creating an eclipse that will surprise the spectator. Finally, thanks to the soft-start, when the lamp is turned on it briefly simulates a sunrise, while the surrounding is gradually permeated by the warmth of the light.
Given the precious craftsmanship of the product, each piece is simply unique and stamped with a numbered series.
Product: krater
This design lamp was inspired by the ancient amphora of the Hellenistic period, which takes its name.
The simple form, in truth, obscures some considerable production difficulties. Even in this case, we have always wanted to realize a unique piece.
Beginning with wooden blocks of larch selected one by one, suitably arranged so that the end result can benefit from a unique symmetry, the blocks are spaced by a darker essence of wenge, which lends it a greater elegance as a whole.
Once the final block is obtained, expert artisan gestures work on it strictly by hand on the wood lathe. The form and the final translucency is the result of this unique experience.
Even with this designer lamp, we insisted on following the philosophy of beauty and functionality. It’s a splendid piece of furniture design even when it’s turned off. When it’s turned on, it warms the surrounding thanks to the essence of larch that becomes translucent.
However, the surprise is also tactile. When the vase is touched, the tactile sensation is purely seductive. It’s almost as if the essence wants to give back all of the warmth that it is able to give when it’s on.
Product: O’Bitta
Originating from an idea to create a lamp of utility and design for travelers even when they are at home, work, or on holiday. That’s when the lamp went into development, a functional product capable of taking care of several essential utilities: illuminating a work area and recharging travel accessories, such as a PC, camera, smartphone, etc...
The front panel has a special power outlet that accepts two plugs: EU or a Shucko, a LED spotlight for illuminating a work area and a USB port for recharging.
Inspired by travelers, this modern “lantern” is a designer lamp that finds its ideal place in the work area, next to a desk or on a carpet, or for relaxing, next to a sofa, a bed or a veranda.
Product: speaker
Inspired by industrial design, it’s also sophisticated and elegant at the same time. A pendant lamp with integrated LED lighting, diffused and dimmable. The LED source is quite efficient, based on an aluminum module; the light is diffused by a prismatic methacrylate, integrated into the module itself.
The LED module has connected to a patented innovative and simple magnetic coupling system. This allows for easy replacement of the LED module, even if you simply want to change the color temperature.
The structure is entirely made from renewable materials (in pure aluminum, machined, cut and folded) and the finish is realized with an epoxy powder coating. It finds its perfect setting in the living room, business areas, modern stores, and offices.
Product: triade
Design Lamp in Nordic Style, Triade is a sophisticated “game” between the balance of the components that create it and give it form.
It’s apparent simplicity conceals a precise study of design and mechanics.
Originally conceived as a point of convergence between the Japanese art of origami and purity of the Nordic style lines, the elements that compose it have been able to maintain their equilibrium.
For its realization, a unique wood was used, capable of transmitting warmth and express more material sensation to the object.
It’s not a simple table lamp, but an extremely decorative object.
This table lamp is available in three different surface finishes (veneer): olive, rosewood, oak.
The light source is dimmable with a built-in touch sensor.
