Nera Weiss

Biography:

I'm an Italian designer from Berlin. My first creations used Raku Ceramic techniques; an ancient and fascinating Japanese handicraft tradition where ceramic materials come directly from the fire. This technique allows the craftsman to influence and shape the individual characteristics of the piece and I adopted it in my practice during jewelry design. Confronting me with a variety of materials and techniques led me to choose porcelain; a particular type of ceramic that has historically been called "white gold". In 2017 I published my first contemporary jewelry collection labeled "Nera Weiss". The name, which evokes the name of a woman, is actually a combination of opposites, in black and white expressed in two different languages, Italian and German.

Concept:

Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings in black and white porcelain embellished with gold and platinum. Each piece is unique and shaped by hand. All the components are in silver or gold plated silver, the rings have a natural rubber base.
