Vittorio Scarnati

Biography:

Vittorio Scarnati was born in 1993 in Cosenza, but since 2014 he lives in Milan where he starts studying the European Institute of Design. In July 2017, in less than 3 years, he graduated in Product Design, showing a marked predisposition to design and acquiring immediately those relational skills that make him an excellent member of a work team. His passion is designing, planning and building: he has a creative and dynamic personality, he used to working at ahigh rate and managing any unexpected event, in order to achieve his goals and respect deadlines. At the age of 24, he has already carried out several projects, participating in contests and events aimed at presenting to the public the inventions he hopes will change our future.

Concept:

"The Sign" is a bicycle designed specifically for Milan Design Week for the Fuorisalone 2019; was made by the skilled hands of the artisans of "Toro", the historic Milanese brand of luxury bicycles. "The sign" has a chromed steel frame, toothed belt, wooden circles and pedals, handlebar covered with sheepskin. Traditional techniques and materials are combined in innovative details, creating a product that will last over time and leave a "mark". The beauty of simplicity.

"The Sign"

has a frame and fork in chromed steel to reflect the surrounding environment and creating an original aesthetic effect; for the transmission a toothed belt was used, instead of the classic chain, to eliminate any noise during pedaling and its maintenance is almost zero as it does not oxidize being made of polymeric material; the metal rims are guarded by a very thin curved wood sheet and the pedals are also in wood. The traditional techniques and materials have been used with a new vision to offer a product that dresses in the surrounding colors and to leave the "sign" in its passage.
