Biography:

Austrian born designer Sonja Attar has been living in Sydney, Australia for the past 10 years where she also finished her Masters of Design Degree. Constantly commuting between Vienna and Sydney she finds herself between two worlds never quite sure which one to call home. Being a design enthusiast, Wild City was created - a contemporary design studio that shows works of jewellery, objects and graphics all connecting to an overarching theme. Sonja Attar’s design approach leads her into the exploration of modern techniques mixed with traditional making.  

Concept: 

Wild City’s project “The Urban Alien” features intricate geometric forms and patterns in vibrant and bold colours. It addresses the topic of feeling alienated in an often familiar surrounding. The idea is to create a recognisable shape in form of a wearable object. An object so common but yet foreign when put in an  altered environment. This was supported by exploring the use of fluorescent and iridescent hues transforming anurban jewellery piece into a peculiar object. The designer uses acrylic in combination with the laser cut technique.
