Milan, 5 June 2012. The Verona Exhibition Centre upgrades its appointment with business and culture in the world of natural stone. Wednesday 26 Saturday-29 September sees the return of Marmomacc (www.marmomacc.com), the reference International Exhibition for the stone industry. The event - now at its 47th edition - is the not-to-be-missed occasion for all trade operators because it is the only show in the world that presents the entire field embracing natural stone, processing and applications in design. The most prestigious showcase for admiring the best Italian and international traditions and innovations with stone always in the forefront: from quarrying to surface finishing and endless applications in construction, architecture and contract fields. Marmomacc confirms its status as the undisputed leader. Facts and figures for the previous edition highlight more than 1,500 exhibitors (56% international from 61 countries). Important partnerships such as those with Hanley Wood Exhibitions, the largest organiser of building industry events in the United States, Confindustria Marmomacchine and the Marble Services Centre in Volargne as the landmark for the Veneto Marble and Natural Stone District. The objective of Marmomacc is once again constant promotion of the marble system on world markets by encouraging contact between buyers and exhibitors, between supply and demand. This is why our mission does not come to an end with the four days of the event but continues abroad with the Marmomacc in the World tour travelling to Las Vegas, Doha in Qatar and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. Marmomacc, lastly, is not only business but also a workshop combining culture, research and training. This is the direction taken by initiatives involving architects, engineers and designers thanks to seminars, update courses, competitions, shows and collaborations with Italian and international universities belonging to the Stone Academy project coordinated by Marmomacc.

MARMOMACC IN THE WORLD
Marmomacc continues its efforts to consolidate its position on international markets, especially in the USA, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. While the United States is a consolidated scenario for the marble and granite field, the Gulf area is the most promising today, with billion dollar investments scheduled over the next few years. Marmomacc, in collaboration with Confindustria Marmomacchine and REC in Riyadh, is the co-organiser for the second time of Saudi Stone Tech in Riyadh 11-14 November 2012. The event, held alongside Saudi Build, is one of the most important exhibitions in the sector with more than 18,000 visitors and 900 exhibitors from 35 countries. In the United States, Marmomacc and Veronafiere coordinated more than twenty Italian companies attending StonExpo Marmomacc Americas in Las Vegas 24-26 January 2012 - the largest and best-known American event dedicated to natural stone that attracted over 32,000 visitors and more than 700 companies from 20 countries. Over and above commercial aspects, Marmomacc in partnership with Hanley Wood Exhibitions organised training courses within the scope of the American exhibition for architects belonging to the American Institute of Architects. 30 April-3 May, on the other hand, saw the debut of the Qatar Stone Tech exhibition, the event dedicated to natural stone and the related technology sector promoted by Veronafiere and Confindustria Marmomacchine as part of Project Qatar 2012, the second largest construction exhibition in the Middle East. The various activities that Veronafiere hopes to implement in international terms in its business plan include the development by 2014 of further international partnerships with special reference to BRIC countries.
INNOVATIONS IN 2012
Veronafiere is always determined to ensure constant innovation for its events. Marmomacc is no exception and the 47th edition promises a series of new initiatives. Starting with “Architects-on-line”, a computerised matching system whereby Italian companies can set up a series of appointments with a selected group of architects from 17 countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa, India, Germany, Russia, Japan and Sweden.
The Marmomacc Architecture and Design Competition 2012 also makes its debut. This competition, developed in collaboration with Archi-Europe, seeks to valorise young talent among 180,000 architects all over the world by rewarding the best applications using natural stone in design solutions for spas, wine bars, restaurants and shops. Marmomacc Lab, on the other hand, will teach how the quality of stone can be appreciated even only through touch, thanks to a sensorial-emotional workshop created together with the Marble Services Centre. Marmomacc and the city, lastly, offers companies an occasion during the exhibition to exhibit their works in stone in the squares of Verona: an event in collaboration with the Verona Order of Architects and Verona City Council.
CULTURAL APPOINTMENTS
Marmomacc is not only business: through focus events, shows and conventions, the show has helped reveal applications of excellence for natural stones and marbles, confirming its calibre as the most qualified cultural workshop for trends in the world of architecture and design. Inclusion as of 2011 in the Gold Compass Award ADI collection is the most authoritative testimony of how Marmomacc's activities in the research and experimentation field with natural stone is by now an established landmark for sector experts, buyers and visitors. Such know-how is never merely for its own sake but, thanks to Marmomacc, always placed in relation with the production system to promote Italian design - universally renowned for its added value - all over the world. It is in this context that Marmomacc Meets Design, the crossways event embracing all halls, proposes its sixth topic: colour - the basis for beauty - is linked to applied environmental sustainability in stone furnishing projects. The Best Communicator Award also welcomes its sixth edition as the occasion for rewarding exhibiting companies that best convey the potential of marble and stone through their stand set-ups. With these objectives in mind, the 47th edition of Marmomacc dedicates again a entire to hall culture - Inside Marmomacc - as the stage for many installations and design projects that, through their very titles, express their research contents: 100% Gravity, Spontaneous Boundaries naturally reversible, Homo Faber, Stone's. Over and above the customary Marble Forum events - non-stop conferences, lectures, conventions and shows by Faculties of Architecture and Design.
Recognition will also be ensured for students at Italian universities with the second edition of the Degree Thesis Award - Landscape, Architecture and Stone Design.
