Today we have the pleasure to talk with the design brand Meonin!
Tell us how and why you became a designer!
First of all, my years spent at the university had influenced my current profession. In the Institute of Architecture of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, one essential thought had been conceived in me that I wanted to design such personal objects which focus on everyday activities, which we can make a personal connection with and which can function as important parts of our life. These objects are pieces of furniture! The beauty and simplicity of architecture connected to my thoughts – relation between impact and space, function and exciting atmosphere of empty places. I couldn’t visualize these thoughts just in one furniture and I missed a collection because of the “connection”-idea. That’s how I started to think about a furniture collection. When I realized the true lack in the design industry and understood the real value, MEONIN furniture brand was born. I wanted to reveal my thoughts and test my capabilities. The truth is that I didn’t care about opinions of others or expanding boundaries. I drew a line which I never want to step over: like at Contour chair. This is MEONIN.
What are you doing now? Are you working on a specific product?
We are currently working on the collection non-stop. Our tasks at the moment are updating, developing international relations and running design and production.
In 2017 you have participated in the event Din - Design In organized by Promotedesign.it during the Milan Design Week: was it your first time in Milano?
The event of Din - Design in 2017 was the first occasion for us.
Can you tell us something about you experience at Din - Design In and in Lambrate?
Lambrate area is an amazingly good location for organizing this kind of event. We met a lot of different people who were open, social, friendly and hungry for new ideas. It was a place of chatting and making contacts, where (by the way) we could eat the best pizza in the world or have a beer. It is unforgettable for us!
Was it worth it? Would you like to do it again?
We took part in this event for making new experiences. I think that emerging, talented young designers can’t afford the participation fee in every case. Of course, it does matter where the designer comes from. For us, every minute passed like we had 30 years behind our back. It was a pleasure to be in international sphere with such a young brand. Yes, we would love to attend again!
Would you recommend this experience to another designer?
Of course, we would recommend this event for every designer, who can be there.
