Gemma Izumi is a catalan-japanese designer who explores the relationship between human body, pleasure and nature. Her work aims to potentiate the five senses, creating a break time on the everyday life to relax and disconnect, through pieces concieved as extentions of our bodies. The materialization is done with natural resources collaborating with local artisans from Barcelona. Gemma has studied Product Design and Industrial Design Engineering in Elisava, Barcelona.
SOO Sensitive is a craft oil massage tool that adapts to the multiple shapes of the body. It can contain and drop the oil, while massaging with a single piece. The thermal contrast between wood and clay creates both stimulating and relaxing effects. It can be used on all the body parts, wether alone or with your partner.
The geometry of Soo Sensitive helps to perform therapeutic massages without loading the fingers. The ceramic surface is more pointed, being ideal for stroking sensitive areas such as the head, neck or feet. It also allows to focus the pressure on specific points where there are contractures. On the other hand, the wooden surface is wider, which allows massages in areas such as the back or legs through circular movements, offering a fun and intuitive experience.
All the SOO Sensitive production is carried out in Catalonia, completely handmade. Promoting sustainability and local business is a priority to maintain a quality product.
