The philosophy of Slow Design

Goloob Design Bureau is a Ukrainian company, which creates modern and fashionable objects from very traditional materials such as faience and wood. We follow the philosophy of Slow Design. Our aim is to create not only objects, but rather some emotional experience of touching surfaces, holding things in your hands, clicking a switch, and perceiving our physical reality.

Slow Design

When we were children we knew for sure that an apricot tree was rough and lopwood and an old chestnut tree had deep wrinkles on its bark. When grass around the flowerbed grew a little it became tough. Pink rabbit’s nose was wet when you touched it between grate bars. All those things were important. We saw, smell, touched to perceive the world and find the place for ourselves in it.

Nothing has changed. Things around us tell as much as they used to, but we drift by them at great speed. You have to stop to feel the world around and understand it. Our products were created for people who are ready to stop and touch the surface of a ceramic vase, flip the switch a few times, take a mirror from the stand and brush their hair in no rush. Our philosophy consists of simple joys, touch fillings, natural materials and minimum harm for nature.

The big lamp consists of two elements: the base and the spherical shade. It is incredibly challenging to produce such a shape out of faience. Each lamp also has a cute round faience switch. When you push the button, not only you switch on the light, but also you live an unforgettable tactile experience.

This table lamp has the contrasting elements of visually heavy wooden base and two thin disks made of faience. The illuminant is hidden between the disks, which brings the effect of the soft halo.
