The German-based company TRASH2TREASURE will present the new upcycling design pieces during the Milan Design Week (ALCOVA). The installation will be shown from June 5-12, located in the heart of Inganni district.
From supposed trash to beautiful treasures: T2T is connecting Design and corporates to show, that industrial and post consumer waste is just a valuable resource at a wrong place. In collaboration with innovators, designers and architects they develop strategies and concepts to create an artsy-cool change of perspective and tell unique sustainability stories.
T2T reinvests all its profits into valuable projects and activities to raise awareness for sustainability and recycling, generating a high social impact.
During the last years, TRASH2TREASURE has created various projects reflecting their mission in cooperation with relevant partners like cosnova Beauty, Wella and Guhl Haircare.
In this year Design Week, the installation is designed by the Berlin design studio LLOT LLOV and is realized in the harmonic fusion of two separate projects. NEW CYCLE accomplishes the TRASH2TREASURE’s goal to transform valuable supposed waste into high-quality design objects.
GLACIER, one of the two protagonists of the installation, is a new interpretation of terrazzo, a material that can be used for various occasions - in the kitchen, for shelves, in a bar or on the floor. The ultra-modern terrazzo is made of surplus nail polish bottles, lacquer, marble, concrete and fiberglass.
The 2022 presentation includes one-of-a kind interior design furniture made of GLACIER: the sidetable “BASE”, the vase “BLOCK” and the console “STAND”. This material was developed in cooperation with the German cosmetics brand Catrice from cosnova Beauty to combine sustainability, usefulness and a good purpose to make beauty even more beautiful.
The second project created in cooperation with Catrice and TRASH2TREASURE includes the TEINT CHANDELIER and the TEINT PENDANT. They come to life from matte glass make-up vessels which are transformed into a cloud of shimmering lights. Together the individual lighting objects form a large light body, which is the main focal point of the room in the location.
The installation is the beautiful result of the mission to create sustainability through innovation and design. With this cooperation, the beauty brand Catrice underlines their motto “passionately people & planet friendly” and unites the passion for make-up and high-quality cosmetics products to stay in harmony with people, animals and the environment.
Alcova is a platform for independent design and activates forgotten locations of historical relevance. The Alcova exhibition 2022 will present a comprehensive and inspiring cross-section of the rapidly evolving world of design for sustainability: a mix of established international artists and emerging talents, exploring new and exciting developments in the fields of technology, materials, sustainable production and social practice.
