Made in Italy technology triumphs at the Red Dot Award 2022 with Zerica's Smart-Top

For the second year running, the innovative Italian brand won 2 Red Dot Award in the Product Design and the coveted Smart Product categories

After the double win in 2021 with the built-in i-Wall solution, water dispensing and chilling experts, Zerica, win two Red Dot Award yet again, this time with the Smart-Top water dispensing system.

The Smart-Top water dispenser for ambient, chilled, sparkling & boiling water is comprised of three connected elements: undersink chilling and boiling units, a dedicated tap, and a touchscreen countertop control pad. The touchscreen is directly integrated into the countertop and allows precision modification of portion sizes plus specification of hot and cold water temperatures. It also provides real-time information on consumables such as the filter and CO2 canister. Usage data and key parameters are available to view real-time for better management and planning. In addition, exceptional levels of two-way IoT-enabled connectivity mean that operating parameters can be modified remotely for fast, convenient and sustainable servicing.

Patented technical solutions

Smart-Top combines exclusive innovations with patented technical solutions:

- Zero BAR is the revolutionary, ultra-safe, patented boiling system that heats water up to an incredible 101°C at only 1.5 BAR of internal pressure

- Eco Pulse Boiling uses precise pulses of electricity to heat the water and employs sophisticated AI decision making for heating activation, ensuring target temperature is attained and maintained drink after drink.

- This exclusive system minimises and optimises total energy use, reducing energy consumption by at least 15% compared to traditional systems whilst also rendering the solution as a whole intrinsically safer and high-performance.

High performance

Smart-Top is a high-performance system that uses an intuitive touchscreen embedded into

the countertop:

- Choose free-flow or one of the 4 pre-set programmable dispensing volumes

- Customise preferences such as target temperature, portion size or strength of carbonation

- Receive alerts for filter & CO2 canister replacements and reminders for periodic maintenance all based on real-time usage

Smart technology

Auxilia, Zerica’s dedicated internet portal, enables two-way connectivity. Diagnostics can be run and key parameters modified in real time from any connected device such a smartphone or laptop. This can often lead to remote real-time problem diagnosis and resolution by an external technician.

Sustainability

Smart-Top is a study in sustainability: it intelligently reduces energy consumption to the minimum with its unique boiling system; it is directly connected to the water mains so there are no plastic bottles or recycling involved; it uses low GWP R600a cooling gas; it also operates according to programmable energy saving-time slots throughout the day.
