The pocket is in the carpet with G.T.Design!

A new re-edition of the iconic Luoghi collection with a special detail!

"The carpet is the soil we were born on. It resembles us. It is the first element around which an intimate, domestic atmosphere is built. Of a home, it represents the scent, the habits, the poetics. The carpet is an archaic symbol that for G.T.DESIGN becomes contemporary, every day, the sign that materializes the boundaries of personal space".
Deanna Comellini

The wool carpets of the Luoghi collection by G.T.DESIGN are inspired by surfaces aged by time, bringing an element of the past, a vintage touch, into the most sophisticated interior design projects. Entirely hand-painted on both sides, they combine the wear-resistant properties of wool with a distinctive palette, making each piece unique and unrepeatable.

Lightness and warmth are the predominant qualities of this collection.

These ultra-light carpets work according to a modular system of hand-sewn sections, resulting in a collection of unique textile paintings.
The hand-stitched seams and modularity of the individual elements help the designer shape these textile paintings. Luoghi carpets combine elegance and functionality to create unique atmospheres in any room.

The four basic colors, Selve, Oasi, Borghi, and Grotte, as well as the color of the stitching, can be combined at the customer's request. Luoghi can be produced in any size.

The iconic collection, designed by Deanna Comellini, has recently expanded its range of carpets with two new pieces featuring a special detail: the introduction of a pocket.

Inserting a pocket in a carpet is a choice charged with meaning: the pocket represents a space to store and protect what we want to take with us, what makes the place we inhabit our own.

The Luoghi collection was presented during the last Milan Design Week as part of the ‘Unità Abitativa’ installation, displayed in the courtyard of honor of the State University of Milan: here the carpet was presented as a refuge, a garment that travels with us, an essential element for modern nomadism.

Textile design is one of the oldest known technologies for sheltering human beings when living was nomadic and inevitably linked to the cycles of nature, and for this very reason characterized more by community ties and relations with the surrounding environment than by a physical building. To inhabit it means to make it one's own in a stable way, to establish a radical relationship with it.

In a hectic and conflictual world, the carpet once again becomes the connection between man and the earth, the root of the practice of living.

About Deanna Comellini

Deanna Comellini is an artist and designer.
First as an object designer, then as a textile designer, she experimented with the encounter between craftsmanship and industrial design, developing her idea of 'imperfect design', which highlights the small imperfections of natural materials and handwork, making each of her pieces unique and inimitable. Since 1977, she has been the creative director of G.T.DESIGN, a company she founded. In the 1990s she focused on the concept of contemporary carpets and natural materials, innovating the sector with a new concept of textiles for interior design. She has participated in prestigious international exhibitions and collaborated with important figures in architecture such as Toyo Ito and Zaha Hadid Architects, among others.
