laCividina

The First Showroom in Milan

Six months after opening, a new space, expanded and renewed in form and content thanks to styling by Studio Salaris

Over twenty collections and 250 square metres available. The Friulian upholstery and furnishing company transforms its new exhibition spaces into an unprecedented experience of knowledge, design culture and true sustainability

laCividina, the company founded in the upholstery sector that step by step has transformed itself from a small workshop to a cutting-edge company, will bring the story of almost fifty years of Made in Italy upholstery design and culture inside the splendid halls of Palazzo Borromeo d'Adda, Via Manzoni 41.

For the company, this is its first Milanese exhibition space, redefined in its architecture by Luca Botto, also Art Director of the brand: the 250 square metres - in which more than twenty iconic collections and unpublished pieces find their natural setting - are revealed in a natural succession of 'rooms not rooms', conceived to be transformed according to needs and with the same flexibility that has always characterised laCividina's design.

"The opening of the first permanent showroom represents an important step for laCividina, which brings its design even closer to the world of designers," explains Fulvio Bulfoni, company president. "In addition to the very recent headquarters in Martignacco (Udine), inaugurated last September, the new spaces in Palazzo Borromeo d'Adda will allow us to make our design and construction skills even better known, enhancing the true Made in Italy in a highly evocative location”.

Right from the entrance, the pathway develops in a fluid, comfortable, material way; a result to which the precise interior choices curated by Studio Salaris and inspired by the historic residence itself contribute. From Nicosia green, to dark brown, to rust, from light blue to blue passing through indigo, from resin to oak parquet to pre-existing marble, the chromatic choices and the careful selection of complements, carpets and fabrics, offer sensations of tranquillity and warmth for an impactful result. A cosy and intimate environment in which Nature and its tones thus become the absolute protagonists: dusty and pastel nuances such as pink, beige and dove grey colour the walls, which become the backdrop for the lively laCividina upholstery. A perfectly balanced mix of colours and textures, dictated by the paradigms of Nature.

The third room is transformed into an exceptional stage for Osaka, the sinuous sofa that Pierre Paulin designed in 1967 and that the company masterfully reissued in 2013. Today laCividina celebrates another exciting milestone, that of ten years since the re-release of this iconic complement, and does so by assigning it an entirely dedicated space and a new covering. A tribute to Paulin's masterpiece that testifies to laCividina's great ability to go further in upholstery design, preserving the path of handcrafted perfection in every project.

The lighting - provided by brand partner Leucos - has the task of guiding the visitor through the narration of the products, made even more effective and immersive by Inside's touch screens that optimise consultations and design phases, and give the visitor the opportunity to experience the environment in comfort and tranquillity.

Various complements, skilfully selected by Alessandra Salaris and her team, embellish all the rooms: the Carpet Edition rugs, in which the contrast and balance of colours create harmony and the beauty of irregularity; Paola Paronetto's ceramic creations, objects made through long and laborious experimental procedures; Studio Terrae's sculptural vases that accommodate plants in a combination of design, high quality craftsmanship and functionality.
In the last room, dedicated to the office world, are the chairs and tables by Passoni Design, and the Taco armchair, by Alessandro Stabile, recently included in the prestigious ADI Design Index 2023, the yearbook of the best Italian design put into production during the previous year, thus winning a well-deserved nomination for the next edition of the famous ADI Compasso d'Oro award, scheduled for 2024.
Quality, attention to detail, perfection in form: laCividina's proposals are a concentrate of these characteristics to which is added, since its foundation, the use of sustainable materials such as wood for the shells, upholstery and fabrics for the covers.
Today, the company expresses authentic Made in Italy thanks to an evolved managerial culture and effective production organisation, and through the design and production of designer sofa and armchair collections for the contract and residential sectors.
Values that can be experienced from today, at 41 Via Manzoni.

laCividina - Italian Craftsmanship Sets the Standard
Founded in 1976 by Carlo Bulfoni and currently led by his son Fulvio and wife Paola, laCividina produces contemporary sofas and armchairs with ingenuity and originality, while preserving the invaluable essence of Italian craftsmanship in its manufacturing processes. This meticulous attention to detail, embodying the authentic Made in Italy, is complemented by its ability to compete on the international stage, thanks to advanced managerial practices and an efficient production organization. The Friuli-based company continues to evolve, focusing on an even more eclectic and appealing product range and collaborating with prominent figures in the world of design, such as Antonio Rodriguez, Antonino Sciortino, Pierre Paulin, Constance Guisset, Form Us with Love, and Sebastian Herkner. Each collection is born from dialogues with designers from around the world, making laCividina a partner in significant interior design projects for both public spaces (hotels, museums, cruise ships, etc.) and private residences. Today, laCividina's innovative and highly technological facility covers an area of approximately 19,000 square meters, where all its highly qualified personnel craft tailor-made products. The ongoing growth journey is further evidenced by the recent opening of a showroom in Milan, spanning over 250 square meters, designed by architect Luca Botto (the brand's Art Director). Here, the company showcases its latest collections alongside iconic pieces that have gained international recognition, transforming its new exhibition spaces into a unique experience of knowledge, craftsmanship, and true sustainability.
