The Plaza Collection

A metaphoric journey that feel like home

Nowadays, the world of hospitality is changing rapidly. Aseptic and cold places are not comfortable, especially for tourists and guests in hotels and restaurants who look for that comfort, coziness and attention to detail typical of their own homes; who wish to feel right at home even when away from the household.

It is evident how, today and increasingly in the future, interior design must redefine spaces by connoting them as warm, emotional and intimate, reducing the boundary between contract and residential. In this regard, Horm - a historic company that through its furnishings wishes to donate sensations and emotions that cross national borders to spread throughout the world - has found in architect Marco Piva a great travelling partner for the creation of the Plaza Collection: an urban Capsule Collection that is perfectly suited to both private and public "conviviality".

The Plaza collection narrates a journey, an evocative and metaphorical exploration of European capitals with the aim of reinterpreting their most symbolic urban squares. The square has always been an emblematic place: an outlook of meeting and confrontation, guardian of local historical memories and at the same time promoter of a future with an international scope.

The elegantly shaped itinerary of the Horm team and Marco Piva conforms harmoniously to the most varied living and hospitality contexts, providing a feeling of wellbeing in any situation: from the modern penthouses of Hong Kong's Causeway Bay to the Beaux-Arts style buildings of Paris's Quai Des Orfevres, to the elegant and exclusive restaurants of London's Fifth Street, while maintaining the Italian soul and unmistakable signature of Made in Italy design and manufacture. The objective is quite clear after all: to recreate domestic intimacy and the perception of well-being inside a shared space.

«I have always defined myself as “a traveller before being a designer” – says Marco Piva – I love to explore the world, to meeting people and cultures, and to confront myself with different realities. Evoking the journey for the Plaza Collection project has also taken on an emotional connotation for me, recalling the memory of the places that inspired me».

Actually, the Plaza collection consists of tables, seats, cabinets, writing desks and consoles, designed especially for dynamic reception spaces. The conception of each furniture component derives from the territory and from some of the best-known European squares in the collective imagination. Highlights include the Vendome Chair inspired by the famous symmetrical square in Paris, the Consul Impero inspired by the square of the same name in Lisbon, and the Alexander Table - winner of the ADA 2023 - whose Y-shaped articulation recalls Berlin's Alexanderplatz. Every time a visitor stays in the hotels or has a meal in the restaurants and finds a piece of furniture from the Capsula Plaza, they will feel a sense of familiarity with the great European capitals they have visited in the past and that will bring them back home.

The collection's fine finishes are told through warm, bright colours, while the lines are soft and flowing, making every room cosy and pleasant, and are ideal for dressing the cosmopolitan living of tomorrow.

THE PRODUCTS IN THE COLLECTION

Vendome Chair
The Vendome Chair like the famous Parisian square stands uniform and symmetrical. A light profile with soft lines for an enchanting circular seat. An enveloping, suspended backrest that like the stone of a jewel is supported by the entire metal frame of the seat.

Concorde Chair
The Concorde Chair with shapes as broad as the square from which it takes its name is a comfortable seat, thanks to its full backrest. An armchair that is fluid in form and exquisite in finish. The circular metal section forms the basis for the regular cushioning and the outer raw metal legs.

Alexander Table
The uniqueness of the Alexander table lies in its die-cast metal legs that can be assembled in different ways and consist of two elements plus a Y-joint. A joint of joints like the Alexanderplatz in Berlin. Available in four different sizes, even the top can have different finishes from marble to metal to back-painted glass.

Trafalgar Table
The Trafalgar Table, available in two sizes, consists of a top with rounded corners and a wooden base with metal inserts as powerful as Admiral Nelson's famous column in London. This parallelepiped sits on a support plate, also metal, with a quadrangular shape but with fluid angles that seems to illuminate the entire structure.

Marien Table
The sturdy Marien Table combines an imposing base, a truncated cone clad in steel, with a light black polished glass top. This glass is perfectly enshrined in its base, allowing a subtle perimeter edge to emerge, like the Marienplatz enshrined in the heart of Munich.

Dam Cabinet
The Dam cabinet, rectangular in shape like the famous square in Amsterdam, features wooden doors in various finishes, such as black ash, with a folding opening, which can be separated by a central drawer in the Low version that conceals an additional storage element. The metal part follows the entire low perimeter of the cabinet and ends in four feet at the outer corners. The Dam cabinet collection is enriched with additional elements of different sizes, such as the buffet cabinet and the bar cabinet.

Mayor Low and High Cabinet
The Mayor cabinet available in Low and High versions is supported by two symmetrical legs with soft lines in metal, joined to the piece underneath only at the sides. The large central top, like the famous Spanish square, is slightly recessed and has a side edge with no edges that softens the entire large structure.

Imperio Writing Desk
The Imperio Writing Desk inspired by the Lisbon square of the same name with its long square side is a tall desk with a top that can be enhanced with a variety of fine finishes, such as marble or back-painted glass. A central drawer divides its side symmetry supported by long metal legs.

Imperio Console Table
The Imperio console table is inspired by the square of the same name in Lisbon with its long square side. The console table runs long in its delicate and elegant structure. The top in different materials has rounded corners and is symmetrically supported by long champagne metal legs.

HORM
Since 1989, Horm combined linearity, elegance and art to create home environments that are always essential but with great aesthetic impact. Horm proposes a "contemporary design" where international influences coexist, reinterpreted by the culture, passion and craftsmanship of Made in Italy. The brand's creative philosophy is defined in its corporate vision: to decorate living spaces by creating emotions. Horm stands out for its ability to combine elegant lines and elements of amazement that turns spaces into an expression of those who live in them. Horm's sister brand Casamania offers seating and occasional furniture for hotels, bars, restaurants, common areas of buildings and homes. With Casamania, furniture goes beyond its simple function and become a protagonist capable of evoking memories, images, emotions and moods. The collection is strongly oriented towards modern and contemporary Soft Contract trends and integrates perfectly into high-end furnishing projects where communal spaces for work and leisure are made to offer comfort and relax. It has an eclectic style, where everyday furniture is interpreted through cosmopolitan and avant-garde influences for an ironic and 'pop' design.
