G.T.Design opens a new space in Milan - "La Cabina"

Il nuovo spazio permanente firmato G.T.DESIGN ha aperto le porte durante la Milano Design Week

G.T.DESIGN, brand pioneer of contemporary rug, inaugurated at the Milan Fuorisalone its new permanent space, "La Cabina" in the San Babila district, at Via Cino del Duca 2, one of Milan's most prestigious design areas.

A space that enhances the elegance and uniqueness of the brand's fabrics, inspired by the architectural masters of the 1930s and 1950s, in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere away from the chaos of storefronts, designed to facilitate the choice of textures and tailor-made finishes dedicated to the most exclusive projects.

During the famous Milanese event, La Cabina hosted the exhibition "Deanna Comellini - Unique" - A series of rugs and tapestries that are the result of the designer's incessant research work. The exhibition features original and unique objects, an expression of the highest Italian craftsmanship and creativity.

The exhibition is set within an arrangement that favors the artistic approach summarized in the phrase "Ce n'est pas un tapis, c'est un object" by Deanna Comellini, where the rug is reinterpreted, and shown as a precious object.

The new collections displayed:

Golden Threads, an ultra-lightweight, hand-woven New Zealand wool rug with hand-applied gold foil inserts

Golden Fleece, long piled rugs made of fine natural fibers such as Afghan wool and linen in different yarn blends

Al Tratto, hand-woven on traditional looms is distinguished by subtle engravings, and line-like drawings, also imprinted on New Zealand wool

Paglietta, whose collection is enriched with a new and very precious weave.

La Cabina is the new point of reference in Milan for architects and designers who want to integrate textile furnishings into their projects with a tailor-made service and products of the highest quality.

Deanna Comellini
Deanna Comellini is an artist and a designer.
For over 40 years, she has experimented by combining craftsmanship and industrial design while working first on product design and later on textiles. She has developed the notion of ‘imperfect design’, a philosophy that transcends time, marked by the search for imperfections to celebrate authenticity. In the 1990s, she focused on the concept of the contemporary rug and natural materials while innovating the industry with a new textile for interior design. In 1977, she founded G.T.DESIGN taking on the role of Creative Director. She participated in prestigious international exhibitions and collaborated with important architectural figures, including Toyo Ito and the Zaha Hadid Architects studio. She has been guest lecturer in several Universities such as NABA and IULM. In 2022, Deanna Comellini was named one of the 100 Most Influential Women by Forbes Italy.
