BALLONFISH TILES (60X60 CM TILES) in collaboration with Graphic Designer Alessia Nigiotti Bio-inspired design from balloonfish. The project seeks the creation of a bio-inspired graphic design inspired by the balloonfish. Bio-inspired design is the translation of a biological system to a design parameters in a negotiation between science and design methodologies. This principle recognizes that nature combines geometry-based design strategies to achieve original and minimalist graphic languages suitable for the most modern technologies. Nature helps us interpreting the evolution of the ceramic floor concept in a contemporary key. Designers, scientist, and engineers continue to study the complex structures found in nature to create greener and more efficient products and process for our homes and lives. We believe that nature has always inspired some truly innovative new products also in terms of aesthetic matters like architectural, interior and graphic design. Another reason for this choice is the passion for the ocean (Livorno hometown). The design is also inspired by the Italian design scene in the early 1980’s with its post-modernist style.
