Diplomatic Quarter Riyadh - pedestrian and traffic signage system for the Arriyadh Development Authority ADA | The Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter is, regarding its architecture with various gardens and surrounding landscape an extraordinary closed location part of the 5 Million capital of Saudi Arabia. It is realized according to the masterplan of Albert Speer & Partner from 1978. Developed for 20.000 habitants the Quarter is the basis for nearly 80 embassies based in Saudi Arabia. The documented signage project includes directional, diplomatic and pedestrian signage and relates to a comprehensive analysis of user needs. The design reacts on the extraordinary situation of this place, as an international meeting point in the heart of the Arabic world with various architectural influences, as a dialogue between traditional Arabic architecture of the Nadj Area and contemporary international architecture of the different represented countries. Colors, typography and 3D – elements mirror the internationality, the outstanding urban style and the behaviours of the users and inhabitants like the probably worlds first “drive through information point”.
