PAOLO FRANCESCO PIVA - Curriculum vitae.

Architect Paolo Francesco Piva
Born on 1954 in Milan.
Architecture Graduate magna cum laude at the Politecnico di Milano in 1978.

Studiodada member, he participated in the success of this group of professionals, among the most famous in Milan of the eighties. As an architect he designed buildings, public and private interiors, showrooms, shops, street furniture both in Italy and abroad ( Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Congo, Egypt, France, Gabon, Ghana, Libya, UK, USA, Switzerland, Turkey), exhibition stands but also an entire exhibition as in the case of the "45th International Bicycle and Motorcycle Exhibition" of Milano

·        In 1980 he took part in the competition held at the Milan Triennale entitled "Interior space after the form of usefulness ".

·        At the FARBE DESIGN in Stuttgart in 1983, in collaboration with Olivetti, he presented one of the first examples of a computerized system for ceramic tiles linked with an automatic order management system.

·        In 1988 he founded Oberon Consulting.

·        In 1989 he won the award for the design of the most innovative lamp at the Paris Fair and received a commendation from ROSCOE (Resources Council Product Design Awards Program), for the “Lazy Light”, a Luxo Italiana product. This lamp was lately selected for the 13th BlO in Ljubljana.

·        In 1991 he represented ADI as technical lighting expert at the Taiwan Lighting Congress.

·        In 1993 he took part in the Korean Design Seminar in Seoul, providing design expertise and consultancy for Korean lighting companies.

·        In 1998 he was Teacher Designer at ROC University in Taiwan.

·        In 1998 he founded MADS- Man-Age Design-Studio, a design laboratory for sustainable eco design.

·        In 2002 he founded Design Postscriptum.

Among other activities related to design there is also teaching:

·        At  Scuola Politecnica di Design, where he was not only responsible for the industrial design department but  also the main coordinator of the general academic activities  in the years 1998/1999 1999/2000.

·        At CSIA Institute in Lugano Switzerland (2000-2008) where he taught industrial design and materials technology.

·        At Bauer Institute in Milano, where he hold a master of CAD assisted Interior decoration  in the years 2003-2004

·        He was a member of the Scientific Committee on CAD/CAM in ADI.

·        He was a member of the Scientific Committee for the magazine Sistemi Software

·        Selected among the 30 most famous Italian designers, he attended the event SKY DISH DESIGN in 2004 co-managing the event with ADI.

 

In addition to the design activities, he acts as an engineering consultant in various companies.

He attended many seminars as a CAD expert.

In architecture and interior design, his activities led him to work all over the world, from Italy to the U.S., from the Middle East to Eastern African countries, engaging in business ranging from private villa, to hospital and big government works.

In recent years, he dedicated his energy in developing and spreading BIM (Building Information Modeling), theoretically creating the FFIM (Furniture and Finishing Information Modeling), to work on a link between the world of construction, design and contract.
